Super Simple Summer Burger Recipe
Burgers are a staple for many a Summer BBQ or outdoor feast so we thought we’d share our favourite and most simple recipe. You can, of course bling it up with chillies, extra cheese, herbs, cream or what ever your taste buds fancy!
500g of lean beef mince
1 onion/red onion finely chopped or grated
1 crushed garlic clove
1 whole, free range egg, beaten
salt & pepper to taste
Extras of your choice e.g. hand full of grated cheese or tsp dried chilli flakes
Start by taking the mince out of the fridge and allow to come to room temperature. Finely chop or grate your onion and add to a frying pan with a glut of rapeseed oil. Saute or fry gently until soft and translucent. Add the garlic if using. At this point you could also add oregano or thyme, chillies or capers. Allow to cool a little.
Put the mince into a bowl and start to break up with a wooden spoon. Add the cooled onion mix and stir in. At this point you could add grated cheese. Then add the beaten egg (and a glug of double cream if you are feeling indulgent) and use clean hands to squish and mix until you have a fully incorporate mix. Add salt and pepper.
Wash your hands and sip in cold water ad then create burger shaped patties to suit – cute little ones for bite sized picnics or large deluxe burgers. You should get 4 large burgers or up to 8 smaller ones. Place on a plate and refrigerate for a minimum of 30 minutes. They can be left overnight.
To cook – use a griddle, grill, frying pan or BBQ and add to a traditional sesame seed bun, warm pitta, brioche or simple with salad.
